This is my blog about everything Celtic and Scotland. I am of Scottish background and have always had a pride about it. Now that I am older I can take the time to indulge in my Scottish history and wear a kilt to boot. This is just my thoughts and ramblings, I hope you enjoy.

Great find on Ebay
Well it came today in the mail. I made a great find on eBay, which I THOUGHT was OD Green, like I reported in the last post. But when it arrived it turned out to be a black kilt. To be honest, I do not mind, one can never have to many kilts.
You can see the sporran that I also got on eBay and the kilt belt, also on eBay. You have to keep your eyes open to get good deals. This kilt was $25 and only worn once. Tags are in tact and it really good shape.
I am pleased and can't wait to debut it in public. All around I am pleased with the purchase.

Getting The Tooth Pulled
Even Real Men have to have teeth pulled. I hate the dentist. Well not the guy himself, but the act of going. I am one who does not care for going to doctors and such.
But I had to have a tooth pulled and it is looking like I might have a couple more needed and then on top of that, a plate put in. Oh joy.
Then I think that once I have this done I will not have to only eat the soft food and that maybe I can eat more things, which is a good thing for us kilt wearing men.
Needless to say, I am not fond of the dentist. He is doing his job and as much as I hate admiting it, he is doing it pretty well.
Once I get the work done, I hope to be able to partake in much of the food items that I have missed over the months.
Just so you know, real men who wear kilts, well the dentist is one of those things that the magic aura of the kilt does not help.. at least not much.

Kilts Equals Freedom
I have a new favorite book. It is called "Kiltology Volume 1: Words of Wisdom for the Kilted Universe" By Kevin M. Thompson
It is a great book, easy to read and filled with a lot of great kilt wisdom.
One of those wisdoms is
I like to peruse the kilt forums and group pages on Facebook. You get to see a lot of cool kilts and kilt accessories.
While checking out some of the Facebook pages I ran across one of my favorited kilt makers "North of Hadrian's Kilts and Celtic clothing" they just created a new video displaying their goods. Jackson is the owner and provides great customer service.
Here is his vidoe that he produced --
I was thankful that Jackson shared the video and then we had a person who was kind of showing off their kilt knowledge complaining about the footware they saw in the video.
Great, one of those kilt-know-it-alls and the person is a woman to boot.
Folks, everything goes well with a kilt, it is the freedom that kilts exude and represents. We are not confined to the vogue trends and such which is the wonderful thing about kilts.
So if you are a kiltie, and someone comes up expressing their fashion opinion, tip your hat and let them know that it is your kilt and you will wear it and accessorize it any way that one should want.
When one wears a kilt, one has freedom.
KILT ON !

Kiltology #7
It is your kilt, wear it as you wish.
Anyone who tells you otherwise can fork over the hundreds or thousands of dollars necessary to meet their definition of "properly kilted". Living "properly kilted" is VERY expensive.

No Shave November
Hey all,
Well it is No Shave November. To be honest I have always sported a beard and I can only think of several times where I shaved it in the last 20+ years.
Thing is that I can not remember if I have ever grown it out. So I have taken the No Shave challenge and going to see if I can grow my beard out.
The first pict is of me starting out in the last week of October.
This is a pict of me Nov 8th 2014. I have been trying to shape it and you can see it is a little longer and I am trying to shape it to be more tapered.
I will add more updates as the month progresses. This will be a lot of fun.

KiltsRock.com
I wanted to share a great website and forum that I belong to. Kiltsrock.com.
I you are a kiltie and wear kilts, this is the site for you.
Yea, there are other kilt forums out there, but a lot of them are very rule heavy, and until you have been there a number of years, they really are not interested in what you have to say. SO yes, there are kilt snobs out there.
This is why I like being part of Brotherhood of the Kilt (http://www.kiltsrock.com)
There is a great group of people there and it is a place where you can really get questions answered without being hammered for being a newbie.
Again, the website is -- http://www.kiltsrock.com
Check it out and when you are there, say hi. I post often.

Not Really Into Halloween
Today is Halloween. I can't say that I am to much into this holiday for religious reasons. I can go into all of that, but if you really want to know, you can read my latest article on my website for that.
Happy Commit Spiritual Adultery Against Christ & Whore Yourself Out With Satan Day - READ MORE >>> http://ow.ly/DDROE
I do hope that the men out there take the time to wear their kilts today. Heck any day in wearing your kilt is a good day in deed.
A fellow kilt wearer that is on my REAL MEN WEAR KILTS Facebook page mentioned that he wore his Great Kilt today and beat his boss in best costume.
His boss was all decked out in leather biker garb. He won in his Kilt.
It just goes to show you that a man in a kilt will always convey confidence and manliness even at some of the ideas (man in leather) that have typically stood for manhood.
Guys, want to impress, stop all this wimpy wanna-be stuff. Highland up and put on a kilt.
Real Men Wear Kilts.

Discovering Cool Music
There is a lot of great music that is Celtic in nature and also Scottish. I found a GREAT playlist today on You Tube with modern pipe and drum.
Bands like Clanadonia, Alabannach, and other great non typical bands. I guess I like this sort of raw music and it is very enjoyable.
BUT be warned, if ye not got any Scot blood in ye, it will probably sound like a bunch o' noise after a while. If you find yourself tapping ye toe a bit, then there is hope for ye.

Clanadonia - Egyptian
Albannach - The Fire and Thunder of Scotland
Here is a link to a great play list with many of these bands as well as Irish reels and pub music. You can turn this on and just let it play. It has several hours of really good music.BUT be warned, if ye not got any Scot blood in ye, it will probably sound like a bunch o' noise after a while. Me Facebook Page - Real Men Wear Kilts
Morn'n to ya all.
Seeing this is a somewhat new blog, I wanted to share a bit more about myself, my love for everything Scottish and my ancestry. Not all at once mind you.
As I have mentioned. I have loved kilts, pipes and Scottish stuff ever since I was a wee lad. I remember one day when my mom was telling me about my history and let it be known we have Celtic blood running through our veins. It was a pretty cool day.
I remember we used to have a set of Encyclopedia Britannica and I loved reading those. I dug out the "S" and started looking up Scotland and reading all about the highlands, pipes, kilts, castles, etc. Really great stuff and that is where my love for Scotland started.
Fast forward to today and now that I am older, I have the time to indulge in my Scottish love and do some of those cool things that I have always dreamed of.
For example, I enjoy weapons, in fact blades in particular. I am one who believes in "he who has the most blades when he dies, wins." So you can imagine all the knives, swords and other sharp pointy things I have laying around the house. Nice thing is that I have a wife who also appreciates my never ending habit and lets me put my nicer blades out for display.
Another thing that I have been able to indulge is kilts. I do not own many right now, at the present I only own five. Three utility kilts and two tartans. But like my blades, that collection is starting to grow as well.
Once I have more posts here, what I will do is review my kilts and give my insight. (I love my UT Kilts)
But what I wanted to share is my Facebook page - Real Men Wear Kilts - This is growing like mad and with the popularity of the show and book series Outlander growing, more and more people are finding my page and joining on.
You can check out the page here -- https://www.facebook.com/groups/realmenwearkilts/
We have a great group of people and yes women are allowed to join to. Come check it out and join the rabble of folks. We have a good time sharing everything Kilts - Outlander - Scottish (KOS)
Hope to see ya there.

Welcome To Real Men Wear Kilts
Hello All
Welcome to my little space on the web where I get to talk about Kilts, Outlander, Scotland and just about every thing Celtic.
Ever since I was a boy I have always loved Scotland / Ireland and all things Celtic. To this day when I hear "Scotland The Brave" or "Amazing Grace" played on the pipes, a pride rises up inside me.
All through my childhood I watched every movie I could about Scotland and then the epic classic came out - BRAVEHEART. Yep, talk about the Scottish movie of all movies.
To this day I still remember the famous speech - "They may take our lives, but they will never take our freedom! - ALBA GU BRA!" (Scotland Forever in Gaelic)
On my mother's side is where I get my Scottish / Irish. She is a Moore and we come from descendants of Scots who fled Scotland to Ireland because they wanted freedom of worship. During the late 1700s there was persecution taking place against Presbyterians, back then they were referred to as Covenanters.

The Covenanters were a Scottish Presbyterian movement that played an important part in the history of Scotland, and to a lesser extent that of England and Ireland, during the 17th century. Presbyterian denominations tracing their history to the Covenanters and often incorporating the name continue the ideas and traditions in Scotland and internationally. My Muir (Moore) ancestors arrived in America in the mid 1700 via Ireland after fleeing Scotland.
